This is a new role and will be a key contributor to develop the new Data Analytics program at Boston Mutual.

As a recognized data expert within BML, they will drive the data schemas, tools, applications, processes, and guidelines to support workflows and analytic initiatives while ensuring that data is secure, available, and correct.

The Data Engineer will bring technical expertise to leverage data and technology to solve business challenges and improve decision-making.The Data Engineer is expected to: Design, define, and implement metrics Conduct experiments and hypothesis testing Analyze and interpret results of measurement, experimentation, testing, and modeling Determine data schemas needed to support data management, ELT, and analytics Implement data infrastructure and run environments to support workflows of data analytics Structure, clean, and aggregate data Create predictive models and draw causal inferences Generate recommendations from modeling and measurement Manage tools and inform processes and guidelines for data governance and security Data visualization and dashboard creation Perform other duties and/or projects as assignedEducation:Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, statistics, or a highly quantitative fieldAdvanced degree preferredExperience:5+ years’ experience with data governance, data management, and analytics3+ years’ hands-on experience in predictive modeling and quantitative analysisKnowledge Requirements:Demonstrated effective analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage competing priorities and multi-task in a fast paced environmentData presentation and visualizationAbility to work well under deadlines in a changing environmentAbility to communicate across business and technical teamsHighly organized and very effective time management skillsProficient using scripting and query languages for data processing and analyticsExperience with Apache products, SQL, Python or R programmingStatisticsFamiliarity with statistical software, tools for data lineage and security, and analytics applicationsHigh data literacy: the ability to recognize, evaluate, work with communicate, and apply data in the context of business priorities and outcomesAbility to work with structured and unstructured dataExperience with scoping, hypothesis testing, and experiment planningUnderstanding of data science workflows and environmentsCertifications/Licensures:Data Engineering, Analyst, Architect, or Data Science professional certification preferred Boston Mutual is an equal opportunity employer.
