Quality Assurance Engineer II – Dayton, OH (Remote)


This is a Full-time position in Dayton, OH posted October 23, 2021.

Dispatch is looking for a mid-level Quality Assurance Engineer who is highly motivated, and has a proven track record for driving quality in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The Quality Assurance team at Dispatch is responsible for validating changes that the engineering teams make to the Dispatch systems and applications through continuous manual and automated testing.
As a Quality Assurance Engineer II, you will be responsible for ensuring that the changes made to applications meet all requirements and acceptance criteria without introducing any undesired or negative consequences (poor performance, new bugs, etc.).

You will develop, maintain and improve the automated test scripts used to identify regressions in the software as changes are made by the Engineering team.

You will also research, introduce and implement new software testing tools and methods into the existing continuous testing environment.

In this role you will closely work with the agile and the QA team to find innovative testing solutions for complex algorithms, functional and non functional updates which drives seamless experience for the end users.

Help define and mature the QA process at Dispatch; help define testing strategies (manual, automation, etc.) that ensure superior quality while keeping the team accountable to these processes.
Exhibit a high personal commitment to quality, implementing development, and testing best practices.
Effectively partner with Product Management, Engineering, and other stakeholders during the planning/design stages of the development lifecycle (shift-left, shift right testing) to ensure solid definition (requirements/acceptance criteria) and champion a quality mindset throughout the development lifecycle.
Develop test plans that cover all functional and non-functional (usability, scalability/load, security, etc.) requirements for a given project and that meet the overall testing and quality assurance goals of the applications.
Execute test plans to identify bugs, missed requirements, performance issues, etc.
Log bugs, missed requirements, performance issues, etc.

Provide guidance when needed to other members of the Quality Assurance and Product teams.
Provide feedback on how to improve Dispatch product solutions and other tools, and general process improvements.
Work with the Product and Engineering Team to resolve bugs and verify that they are fixed.
Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts in order to automate as much of the regression testing process as possible.
Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our test automation infrastructure and CI/CT practices.
Stay current in the industry by attending educational opportunities, conferences, workshops, reading publications, and professional networking.
Other duties as assigned (to be less than 10% responsibilities).

3+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer of software applications with an excellent understanding of SDLC and QA methodology (test cycles, test plans, and software releases) (Required)
3+ years of experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, Newman, Jmeter or similar automation frameworks (Required)
Experience with behavior-driven development (BDD) and related tools such as Cucumber (Preferred)
Experience working in a startup environment (wearing multiple hats) (Preferred)
Experience with agile (scrum, kanban) development processes (Required)
Excellent oral and written communication skills (Required)
